The ZigBee technology (also known as IEEE 802.15.4) provides wireless links at very low prices and with very low power consumption, making it particularly suitable to be directly integrated into small devices electronic (electrical, hifi, toys ...).

The ZigBee technology, the operating frequency of 2.4 GHz and 16 channels, allows for speeds up to 250 Kbps with a maximum range of 100 meters.

ZigBee as Bluetooth is a chip. Much less known as Bluetooth, ZigBee is a communication standard for wireless data communication from machine to machine.

Its very low power consumption and production costs are very low in an ideal candidate for home automation or material type sensor, or remote control equipment in the industry.

Zigbee is not from out of nowhere because it's an extension of the standard HomeRF (Home Radio Frequency) which, since its launch in 1998, was superseded by Wi-Fi.

Many manufacturers - including Honeywell, Mitsubishi, Motorola, Philips and Samsung - are involved in the development and dissemination of the standard.

They also all belong to the ZigBee Alliance, an association aimed at promoting technology.
